What's new in Meribel & The Three Valleys for 2014/15?
Each summer Meribel and the other resorts in the Three Valleys work hard to ensure that improvemts are made to the lifts and ski area. This season those coming to stay in The Three Valleys will benefit from a whole host of changes and additions which will allow skiers and boarders access to the slopes even more quickly. With millions of euros spent each year we really do get great value from our Three Valleys ski and lift passes.
In Meribel the main change is the Loze Express chair lift. The old 4 seater chair has now been replaced with a high speed 6 seater chair which will only take 6 minutes to travel to the top! This will be a much quicker way over to the Loze side of Courchevel and La Tania ski areas and is an ideal way for intermediates to access the lovely tree lined runs.
The blue run on the Roc ce Fer has been re shaped and snow cannons added. This will be a great spot to watch the Alpine World Cup skiing finals which Meribel is hosting during 18-22 March 2015. The resort will provide the perfect back drop for such an amazing event and any one on holiday or staying in Meribel can expect to see the best in the world skiing the Roc de Fer area.
In our neighbouring resort of Courchevel lots of work has been achieved over the summer. In Le Praz the old Foret bubble lift has now been replaced by a 6 seater fast chair lift which will give access to the Bouc Blanc chairlift and Dou de Lanches chair lift which people generally use when returning to the Meribel valley. In the Moriond area of Courchevel ( better know as 1650 to most of us) the Aiguille du Fruit and Gravelles chair lifts have been replacd by one high speed 6 seaster chair lift called Aiguille du Fruit. This will make the return from the slopes of the Moriond area much quicker and improve the connections in the Courchevel valley.
Over in Val Thorens the 4 seater Portetta lift has been replaced by a 6 seater fast chair lift with a capacity to carry 3300 people per hour. In the Caron sector the Plan de L'eau chair will now carry 6 people and provide a longer run down as the verticle drop has increased. In Les Menuires additional snow cannons have been installed in the La Masse area and a new run 'La Bouqetin' created.
